Grand Lake is a great place to enjoy year round. Of course, boating, sailing, swimming, fishing, and other watersports are always what we think of but we also have festivals and things to do on land.

Coming up Saturday September 19 is the annual REC Day at the Grove Civic Center. This is the annual meeting of the Northeast Oklahoma Electric Coop that most of us around the lake use for our electric provider. They will have prizes, entertainment, food, and Doug Rye will give a seminar on saving energy in our homes. I listen to Doug on KGVE Grove, 99.3 on your dial each Saturday morning at 9 am. Doug has been giving energy saving programs for years and offers practical advise on what you can do cost effectively for your home.

On Friday, September 25 at 5 pm at Pelican Landing Resort the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will host the annual “Hook N Cookoff”.

Labor Day Weekend, of course, is the next big event on Grand Lake this weekend September 4-7,2009. Grand Lake homes will fill with family and friends from across the country to kickback, enjoy good company, cook and eat alot, and enjoy Grand Lake. It is a great way to bond with the family and take time to rest and relax with a fun time.
